Eleven arrested in Ibiza ‘narco-housing’ for selling and consuming cocaine and heroin

Eleven people have been arrested as a result of an operation against drug trafficking carried out by agents of the UDYCO group of the National Police Station in Ibiza. The dismantled criminal organisation was dedicated to drug trafficking, specifically cocaine and heroin. Among those arrested as alleged perpetrators of a drug trafficking offence are ten Spanish men aged between 25 and 58 and a 35-year-old woman of Moldavian origin.

Police seized 300 grams of cocaine and about 150 grams of heroin, as well as utensils for processing the drugs, precision scales and cash, as reported in a note by the National Police.

Investigation

The pre-investigation phase was initiated last year upon detection of a large presence of suspected drug users, who went to a specific house in a neighborhood in Ibiza because of suspicions that they might be acquiring some type of narcotic substance.

From the observation and analysis of certain behavioral parameters, the investigators determined that very possibly, in the place, such substances were also being consumed, being a “narcovivienda” or “fumadero”, as it is known in the slang of the street, explained the armed forces.

During months of investigation, the necessary data were obtained to be able to carry out the search.

In the first phase of police intervention last November, police officers arrested a “courier”, a man with drugs on his person, who was on his way to the point of sale with more than 80 grams of cocaine and about 50 grams of heroin. Police arrested the man at the time for drug trafficking.

Register

After an apparent period of inactivity, the agents observed that activity had returned to the site, so the police officers requested the Court of Instruction of the case the entry and search of the point last January 21. A UdyCO device, belonging to the BLPJ (Local Judicial Police Brigade) and supported by GOR (Operational Response Group) of the BLSC (Citizen Security Brigade) took charge of the operation.

At the time of the search and in addition to several people buying and consuming drugsin the course of this operation, the agents found one of the members of the organization using a dipper for the manufacture of cocaine base, better known as “crack”.

Part of the drug seized was already prepared for direct sale with a precision scale, as well as bag cuttings where they wrapped the quantities of drugs they sold.

The detainees have been sent to pre-trial detention on bail after being placed at the disposal of the examining magistrate’s court hearing the case.
