Seven arrested of a criminal gang that planted and sold drugs in Ibiza

The National Police in Ibiza have arrested seven members of a criminal gang that planted drugs and sold them in Ibiza. The members of the organisation, aged between 33 and 56, have been arrested as alleged perpetrators of drug trafficking, electricity fraud and membership of a criminal group, the police said in a statement.

The UDYCO unit of the National Police has dismantled the gang dedicated to the cultivation of marijuana and that was based in the municipality of Santa Eulària, where they had plantations in several apartments in the municipality.

The arrests have been the result of an investigation that the Police have carried out in different phases. Two were arrested last April, three others in a second phase of the operation last Wednesday and finally, two of the members of the gang were arrested on Thursday.

The gang collected the plants from the houses and moved them to another address in Santa Gertrudis, where they operated in a basement where the production, processing and packaging of the marijuana took place. The group packaged the substance in one-kilo packages.

Three searches were carried out in the operation, two in homes and one in an establishment, and seven people of different nationalities were arrested: Chilean, Romanian, Italian and Spanish. In total, a total of 65 kilos of marijuana, 55 grams of speed, 25 grams of MDMA, various amounts of cocaine and more than 3,000 euros in cash.
