The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has reactivated the yellow alert for rain in Ibiza and Formentera this Friday, October 17, due to forecasts of heavy rainfall that could exceed 20 litres per square metre in one hour in some areas of the Pityusic archipelago — particularly in the west and northeast.
According to Aemet’s forecast, the rain is expected to arrive from midday on Friday, with a 65% probability of showers between 12:00 and 18:00, the time period during which the yellow alert will remain active, possibly accompanied by thunderstorms.
Temperatures will remain stable, with lows of 17°C and highs of 24°C, while southeasterly winds will blow with moderate gusts.

A slight improvement is expected on Saturday, although intermittent showers could occur during the second half of the day, with a 45% chance of precipitation, before giving way to a more stable and sunny Sunday.
The last episode of torrential rain occurred last weekend, October 11 and 12, caused by storm ‘Alice’. Earlier, on September 30, squall ‘Ex-Gabrielle’ brought record rainfall to the Pityuses. The islands have suffered numerous floods since then.
