Another 25 squatters leave the Punta ArabĂ Club on the final day of the event

The neighbors of es Canar fear that the forest of Cala Nova will once again be filled with caravans after the eviction of the facilities in Punta ArabĂ

The bungalows in the Club Punta Arabi steadily continue to be abandoned by squatters and, from Saturday night to yesterday morning, the access control at the main entrance has recorded the departure of about 25 people with their belongings. On the other hand, some of the residents of es Canar yesterday expressed their fear that the forest of Cala Nova, where they claim that many of the people who settled in the hotel complex in recent months came from, will once again fill up with caravans and tents.

In fact, a group of residents who gathered at the entrance of the Club Punta Arabi had a verbal confrontation on Saturday afternoon with a group in support of the squatters. “Nerves are very fraught. It seems that es Canar has become a paradise for these people and the truth is that sometimes we are afraid for our daughter when we walk around here [avenida Punta ArabĂ]”, commented a couple who were walking with their two dogs at midday.

“Last year it was full of caravans, but as in summer they were forbidden to park in these streets, almost all of them settled in the surrounding area and in the forest of Cala Nova”, they explained. In this forest area the “workers who could not afford a flat lived here, which is not the same case as many who arrived later.

“Word began to spread that the Punta ArabĂ Club was unguarded and there was a massive move from Cala Nova”
