A 47-year-old man was apprehended at the port of Denia (Alicante) while attempting to board a ferry to Ibiza. Upon inspection, authorities discovered over 23 kilograms of hashish concealed in one of the car’s bumpers. The man has been detained without bail and is currently in custody.
As per the Civil Guard, the behavior of the driver caught the attention of the Fiscal and Borders agents, prompting them to search the vehicle. This incident occurred at 4:25 pm on Saturday, February 18th.
As stated in the official release, “a team from the Tax and Borders Detachment of the Civil Guard in Denia was conducting surveillance operations in the boarding zone of the pier. They came across a vehicle that immediately drew their suspicion, prompting them to investigate further.”
Upon identifying the driver and observing his nervousness, the agents conducted a more thorough inspection of both the vehicle and the luggage. During the search, they uncovered a homemade fiber box connected to the underbody bumper.
Suspecting that the box contained illicit items, the civil guards proceeded to disassemble the bumper casings, revealing 25 vacuum-sealed packages of hashish wrapped in double layers of plastic.
The driver was traveling solo and en route to Ibiza when he was arrested on charges of drug trafficking, a violation of public health laws. Following his appearance before the court of instruction number 1 in Denia, he was remanded in custody without bail.
