State increases direct investment in Ibiza and Formentera by 14% in 2022

There is no budget item for the VPOs of Ca n'Escandell or the new road agreement, but the PSOE guarantees its financing

The General State Budget for 2022 includes a total of 32.8 million euros in direct investments in Ibiza and Formentera (economic items for specific projects on both islands), which represents a 14% increase in the government’s accounts for this year (28.8 million euros). Almost all of the investments, as every year, are focused on the airport and ports of Ibiza and Formentera: by 2022, the central government plans an investment of 31.5 million euros, 96% of the total of what is planned for the Pitiusas.

Specifically, Enaire (the new name for AENA) next year plans to spend 21.4 million in various works and improvements in the aerodrome. The main item, which amounts to 11.3 million, is reserved for the reorganization of roads and signs outside the terminal as well as the construction of the building for car rentals and the first floor of the paid public parking, among other actions. The second largest investment, 3.1 million, will be used to renovate the entire baggage control system from the moment the passenger checks in until it reaches the aircraft hold.

For its part, Puertos del Estado plans to allocate 6.5 million to work on the es Botafoc maritime station and the commercial docks, in addition to 1.8 million in other projects: the structural conditioning of the outer face of the dock (520,000 euros) and the renovation of the protective elements of its foundations (950,000 euros), as well as the renovation of the defence systems of the docks (350,000 euros).

In the port of La Savina, in Formentera, the first floor of building A of services (900,000 euros) and the adaptation and improvement of the dock and the outer dock (650,000 euros) are planned.
