Marina de Formentera will not accept reservations after May 28th

Elimination of large vessels and reduction of space determine new the license for which Marina de Formentera is refusing to present a bid

With one month left for the end of the Balearic Port Authority (APB) administrative license for the Poniente dock of the port of La Savina, its current managers, Marina de Formentera, have decided not to accept mooring reservations as of May 28, one day after the end of their contract. In addition, this company, with local majority capital, announced to Diario de Ibiza that they are not presenting an bid for the current tender for the one year temporary management authorization, with the possibility of two extensions and whose term ends tomorrow, April 27th. They consider that the conditions, especially the economic ones, “are not feasible”.

38 years of management by Marina de Formentera

The managing director of Marina de Formentera, Juanjo Costa, the company that has been managing this license in the public port domain for 38 years, explained the reasons for not opting for another concession: “It is all nonsense. The specifications have neither head nor tail and economic criteria take preference. Objections and appeals have been presented and have not been answered, with the excuse that the APB ‘follows its procedure'”. The manager pointed out that in this case and with these conditions, “it was losing a lot of money, so they have chosen not to present themselves”.

The opening of the bids for this tender is scheduled for tomorrow, April 27, then the whole process of evaluation of the bids that have been submitted will begin.

In any case, there is one month left for the APB to react since from that date Marina de Formentera will no longer be responsible for this port space.
