Formentera is the showpiece of the National Geographic calendar

The almanac is totally dedicated to Formentera, with stunning photos of natural settings and a fine visual approach. Several local photographers, including José Antonio Arribas, Jordi Serapio, Tolo Balaguer, and Alfredo Montero, took part in the exhibition

Formentera is an island you’ll want to cherish not merely in your memories.” This is how the calendar for 2022, which is exclusively dedicated to Formentera, is presented in National Geographic’s Travel magazine.A campaign for the destination that will be present in thousands of homes and offices month after month, depicting each of the twelve months ahead of us.

José Antonio Arribas, Jordi Serapio, Lunamarina, Tono Balaguer, Alfredo Montero, Shutterstock, and Marina Feliu are among the photographers/providers who have displayed photographs of Formentera.

To synchronize with the following month of January, an image of the Can Mestre fig tree, the oldest on the island, is used, together with an almond tree flower.

In February, a remarkable cliff in the surroundings of Punta Pedrera with a human figure in a meditative pose looking at the horizon line marked by es Vedrà during the sunset.

March is a photograph of a flower-filled dune in ses Illetes, with the Tramuntana and es Forn islets in the distance.

Formentera, the National Geographic calendar’s superstar

The publishing house RBA chose an image of a kitesurfer sailing his kite along the beach of ses Illetes in April, which is supplemented by an image of the Molí vell de la Mola.

The lighthouse of Cap de Barbaria emerges in a magnificent sunset in May, followed by the entrance hole to the cave in that rock made famous by film director Julio Medem in his film ‘Luca y el sexo.’

The isthmus of es Trucadors, a delicate strip of sand exposed to erosion and climate change, is showcased in June.

Julioy is a wonderful posidonia meadow accompanied by a loggerhead turtle, while August is given a zenithal picture of a superb sandy beach with three bathers. The island of Tramuntana, in ses Illetes, has been picked for September. In October, a nudibranch, a fascinating sea creature, is presented. Three dry dock huts on Migjorn beach represent November, while a length of the route from sa Pujada to la Mola portrays December.
