Ocio de Ibiza requests the Govern to only allow vaccinated people entry to discotheques

The lawyers from Ocio de Ibiza are preparing a report that supports this measure on the grounds that the whole population already has access to vaccines

The members of Ocio de Ibiza, meeting urgently on Thursday afternoon, have decided to ask the Balearic Govern that, from 26 July, only those customers who can prove that they are vaccinated with the appropriate guidelines can access the clubs. That is to say, it would not even be enough to take an antigen test or a PCR to be able to enter a club. Only those who are immunized would be able to do so.

“So far we have not been part of the problem because we have been closed, both in 2020 and this year. But we don’t want to be in the future either. We can be a solution: if people want to party, perfect, but they must be vaccinated ,” explained José Luis Benítez, manager of Ocio de Ibiza, who on Thursday called the urgent meeting with the 40 venues and five associated clubs as soon as he was informed by the Balearic Minister of Tourism, Iago Negueruela, that the venues may open their doors from July 26, including enclosed venues.

Now that everyone has the possibility of getting vaccinated it is much easier to prevent the entry of anyone who cannot provide a vaccination certificate to prove they are immunized”

The lawyers of Ocio de Ibiza are drafting a report that supports the possibility of limiting access to those who have been vaccinated. Months ago, the lawyers already prepared another similar document at the request of the association to find out if it was legally possible to limit the admission of clients in this way, but they ruled out the measure as they considered that it could be discriminatory. This is not the case now, says Benítez, as the health situation has changed radically: “Now that everyone has the possibility of getting vaccinated it is much easier to prevent the entry of anyone who cannot provide a vaccination certificate to prove they are immunized”, he says.
