Will smoking on the streets and terraces of Ibiza return with the awaited change in restrictions?

The Balearic Government has eliminated practically all the restrictions put in place to curb the spread of covid... But can people go back to smoking on terraces?

The Consell de Govern Balear has communicated on Monday that from tomorrow most of the restrictions that were put in place to curb the covid pandemic are eliminated, considering the improvement of the epidemiological situation in the archipelago.

Therefore, from Tuesday the restrictions in force until now will no longer be effective in cultural events, sports and other mass events. Limitations on the celebration of popular festivities, religious celebrations, parades, dances and the like, or those that also applied in more specific areas, such as those referring to dance academies, open-air social activities with alcohol consumption, children’s and leisure activities, those affecting recreational centers for the elderly, commerce, choral groups or music bands, will also cease to be effective.

In the case of nightlife and catering, all limitations end except the use of masks.

And smoking?

In addition to the use of masks indoors, the Govern maintains the prohibition of smoking on the public streets, in outdoor spaces for public use when it is not possible to ensure the maintenance of a minimum distance of two meters from other people. Smoking is also prohibited on the terraces of bars and restaurants and when moving.

Improvement of the epidemiological and hospital situation
