The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) warns of a new episode of heavy rains that will affect the Mediterranean this week with outstanding accumulated. In Ibiza and Formentera, this Monday it has already started to rain and the yellow alert is active until 3 pm.
The forecast of the Aemet is that they can fall up to 30 liters per square meter in an hour. In addition, meteorologists have activated the orange warning for tomorrow, Tuesdaywith the DANA expected to leave up to 40 liters per square meter in one hour on the island.
The warning will be activated at 3 o’clock and will be maintained throughout the day, until 23.59 hours. The storms are expected to be strong and may pose a significant risk.
The Aemet reminds that the orange warning means that there is a significant weather risk (unusual meteorological phenomena and with a certain degree of danger for the usual activities). In this sense, it recommends to be prepared, to take certain precautions and to keep informed of the most updated weather forecast. It also indicates that usual and outdoor activities may be altered.
Experts explain that the entrance of a cold air mass, with a high probability of isolation as a DANA or cold squall isolatedwill also bring rain throughout the week, a significant drop in temperatures to the islands and throughout the Mediterranean. The thermometers tomorrow will not exceed 17 degrees in Ibiza and Formentera and the minimum will drop to 11 degrees.
