The arrival of the DANA Alice has not altered the plans of Ibiza’s nightclubs, which, “if nothing changes”, are planning to “open as normal” this weekend to bid farewell to the season with its closing parties. This was confirmed yesterday morning by sources from Amnesia, by the director of Pacha Group, Josep Antoni Escandell, and by the manager of the Ibiza Leisure Association, José Luis Benítez, when not a single drop of rain had yet fallen on the island, and before the State Meteorological Agency activated the orange alert level for Saturday as well.
However, following the torrential rains of 30 September, which caused leaks, flooding and other damage in some venues, the clubs wanted to be proactive, and many are taking measures to prevent flooding in case of persistent rainfall. “In principle, between Friday and Monday —when the closing parties are scheduled— everything should operate as normal, although we are very alert and prepared in case it rains more than expected, because the first priority is to ensure the safety of staff and customers”, said the head of the island’s main leisure employers’ association on Thursday.
