The Ibiza airport road, the EI-800, reopened to traffic on Friday after being closed for seven hours, according to emergency service 112. The road had remained shut since Tuesday after torrential rains flooded the tunnel near Sant Jordi, with more than 300 litres of water per square metre recorded in the south of the island. The underpass was completely submerged, with several cars trapped inside. The last vehicle was removed on Thursday at 9:30 p.m.
In Vila, Santa Eulària Avenue has also reopened. According to Ibiza City Council, the streets still temporarily closed are Joan Castelló Guasch and the access road to the Es Pratet car park. The junction of Diputado José Ribas with Gaspar Puig was reopened on Friday morning.
Meanwhile, a team of firefighters from Mallorca deployed to Ibiza continues to assist in emergency operations following the heavy rains. In recent hours, crews intervened in a completely flooded garage, where they managed to extract 16 cars, a motorcycle, a boat and several bicycles.
