Children under 16 are, right now, the most affected by the coronavirus on the island of Ibiza. This is shown in covid monitoring data from the Balearic Ministry of Health, updated on Friday. At the moment, the incidence at two weeks among those who have not yet reached the age of 16 is 197.81 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants. That is 41% more affected than the total of the island of Ibiza , where the latest data puts the indicator at 140.3. This age group has the second lowest vaccination rate in Ibiza (60.7%), after those in their thirties.
The incidence among the youngest has increased by 25% in the last week, going from 158.25 infections that were recorded both one week ago and two weeks ago. On September 22 the age group that recorded the highest indicator was those in their thirties (184.06) while seven days earlier, on September 15, the most affected were those aged between 16 and 29 years, according to the history of the Conselleria.
The situation in Ibiza is the same as in the Comunitat as a whole, where children under 16 years are also those who recorded the highest indicators of covid. However, the number of cases is much lower, 105.79 infections per hundred thousand inhabitants, 92 cases less than in Ibiza.
The second most affected
The second most affected group in Ibiza right now are those in their forties. The incidence among those between 40 and 49 years old is 183.37 cases. Infections among residents of this age group have increased steadily in the last two weeks, in which they have gone from 107.25 on September 15 to 145.31 on the 22nd of the same month and now to more than 180 on the last day for which there are records. The number of cases in relation to the population in the other age groups is already much lower, as the third highest number of cases recorded, those in their thirties, recorded an incidence of 137.21 in two weeks.
