Guided walks and e-bike tours, kayaking, paddleboarding, boat trips, traditional crafts, ‘ball pagès’ and live music will feature throughout the September 17 celebration.
From land and sea to the rhythm of traditional music, Santa Eulària des Riu will celebrate Tourist Day on Thursday, September 17, with a programme of 11 activities taking place at different locations across the municipality.
The event brings together nature, local heritage, Ibiza traditions and family-friendly activities, with events scheduled in Santa Eulària, Cala Llonga and es Canar.
Discover Santa Eulària on foot, by bike and from the water
For visitors who want to explore the area on foot, one of the highlights will be a guided walk along the Santa Eulària River, continuing towards the Puig de Missa and its 16th-century church.
The route will also stop at Can Planetes Mill, where participants will learn about the historical importance of the river and its role in the development of the area. The experience will end with a visit to the Sala Barrau.
There will also be options for exploring the municipality on two wheels and from the water. Cala Llonga will host a guided e-bike cycling route, while Cala Martina will be the starting point for a kayaking and paddleboarding excursion designed to showcase the bay’s natural and cultural heritage.
The sea will offer another perspective of the municipality with a Glass Bottom Boat excursion departing from es Canar, giving visitors the chance to discover the coastline from the water.
Those who prefer to stay on land can hop aboard the tourist train, which will travel through some of the area’s coves and beaches, with departures from both Cala Llonga and Santa Eulària.
The organisers note that water-based activities will depend on weather conditions, while some of the activities will have limited availability.
Heritage, traditional crafts and Ibizan culture
Tourist Day will also provide an opportunity to discover some of the municipality’s cultural heritage.
The Ibiza Ethnography Museum and Ca n’Andreu des Trull will offer free open days, with visiting hours from 10am to 2pm and from 5:30pm to 8pm.
From 5pm onwards, the seafront promenade in es Canar will become another focal point of the celebrations. Visitors will find traditional craft stalls, children’s workshops and background music, with activities particularly aimed at families.
Live music and ‘ball pagès’ to close the celebrations
The programme will culminate with a simultaneous evening celebration in Santa Eulària, Cala Llonga and es Canar.
From 9pm, visitors will be able to enjoy live music, ‘ball pagès’ — Ibiza’s traditional folk dance — and tastings of traditional Ibizan sweets.
The evening is designed to give visitors a closer connection with some of the island’s most distinctive cultural traditions, combining entertainment with a taste of Ibiza’s local heritage.
Santa Eulària mayor Carmen Ferrer said the event provides an opportunity to showcase the diversity of the municipality, from its heritage and traditions to its natural landscapes, which can be explored on foot, by bicycle or from the sea.
