The Consell de Ibiza has presented the first companies to receive the new Transport Verificat quality seal, an initiative created by the island government to distinguish transport operators that comply with legal, safety and professional standards.
The first three companies to receive the certification are Autocares Dipesa, Ibizatours & Islandbus and 32 Eivissa Bus, operated by Sagalés.
The official presentation took place on Tuesday in the presence of Consell president Vicent Marí, Mobility Councillor Mariano Juan and Island Transport Director Roberto Algaba.
A new way to identify legal transport services in Ibiza
The main objective of the Transport Verificat seal is to improve the quality of Ibiza’s transport sector while strengthening efforts to combat illegal and unlicensed transport services.
According to the Consell, the initiative is intended to complement existing transport inspections and enforcement measures, while giving companies that comply with current regulations a visible form of public recognition.
Marí stressed that Transport Verificat is “not simply an image or a sticker”. Behind the certification, he said, is a commitment to complying with regulations, protecting passengers, promoting professional standards and ensuring fair competition within Ibiza’s transport industry.
Transport Verificat uses NFC technology
One of the most distinctive features of the new certification is the Transport Verificat label with an integrated NFC chip.
Passengers and customers can use their mobile phones to access the seal’s website simply by bringing a compatible device close to the label. This allows users to check information linked to the certification and identify transport operators that meet the required standards.
The system is designed to make it easier for both residents and tourists to determine whether the transport service they are hiring comes from an authorised and compliant operator.
For the Consell, this additional layer of transparency should help increase consumer confidence in Ibiza’s transport services.
Fighting illegal transport beyond inspections and fines
The island government argues that tackling illegal transport and industry intrusion cannot rely solely on inspections and penalties.
Marí said it is equally important to recognise and support businesses that operate within the law.
“The fight against illegal practices cannot be based solely on inspection and punishment. We must also highlight those who do things properly,” the Consell president said.
The Transport Verificat certification is therefore part of a broader strategy aimed at organising Ibiza’s transport sector, increasing professionalism and providing stronger guarantees for both residents and visitors to the island.

The Consell says the new initiative is intended to promote a more organised, responsible and professional transport sector in Ibiza, while helping passengers make more informed choices.
“We want an organised, responsible Ibiza committed to quality; an island that protects its residents and visitors while also supporting professionals who comply with the rules and do their jobs properly,” Marí concluded.
The arrival of Transport Verificat gives passengers a new visual tool for distinguishing transport operators that meet the island’s legal and professional requirements, while reinforcing Ibiza’s efforts to tackle illegal transport and improve service quality.
