Winter is no match for tourist rentals: nearly 1000 properties on offer in January on Ibiza and Formentera

The lucrative tourist rental business through online platforms on Eivissa and Formentera does not rest, even in low season.

There is no rest for the tourist rentals in the Pitiusas even in the middle of January. At this moment, in spite of the fact that it is no longer low season, but rather rock bottom season, on the online platform of this type of accommodation you can find about 1000 options. Almost a thousand houses, villas, apartments, studios, tents, caravans and, of course, the traditional and well-known infra-accommodations.

On Ibiza, looking for options for this coming weekend there are more than 800 tourist rental listings, to which the not so insignificant figure for options on Formentera must be added: with an additional 140. The lucrative business of tourist rentals, most of them illegal, which increasingly complicates finding a property for the whole year does not rest, even in winter.

In the case of Ibiza, looking for non-shared spaces and with real walls, the cheapest options are five studios that are advertised for less than 50 euros a night: three tourist apartments in es Canar (with closed pool, they warn, and without kitchen), one in Cala de Bou whose latest reviews about its cleanliness and condition are damning and another, the only one that includes the license number, in Santa Eulària.

Prices sky rocket for tourist rentals when looking at the 2023 Season

Between 50 and 100 euros there are more than fifteen options available. The vast majority are apartments on the coast of Sant Josep, Sant Antoni and Santa Eulària. Only six cost less than one hundred euros, while the others offer a discount for stays of more than three days, so to stay for a week they drop below that ceiling price. The price of these apartments skyrockets when attempting to book them for the 2023 season. One of them, for example, located in Sant Antoni, goes from the current 86 euros per night to 225 in July. The same happens with the most economical ones, which go from around 40 euros per night to 170 in summer. Others do not allow bookings for the season, yet. A tactic to be able to better adjust prices, upwards, obviously, when summer approaches and there is little accommodation available.
