The Cultural Centre of Jesús, the Puig d’en Valls school and the electrical installation of the new paddle courts in Jesús are among the facilities in Santa Eulària most affected by the torrential rains brought by Storm Ex-Gabrielle on 30 September. Several dry stone walls, underground areas and basements—particularly in Jesús—were also damaged, along with rural tracks, beaches and coves across the municipality.
Repairing all the damage will cost “hundreds of thousands of euros” across multiple contracts that require urgent processing, said Juan Carlos Roselló, Councillor for Public Safety, during the extraordinary plenary session held on Thursday.
In that session, the Popular Party, PSOE, Unidas Podemos and Vox voted unanimously to request that the Council of Ministers declare the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu an “area seriously affected by a civil protection emergency”.
