Rains continue in Ibiza: more than 7 litres per square metre and counting

Unsettled weather has arrived in the Pitiusas and is expected to persist throughout the week. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) issued a yellow alert for Ibiza and Formentera on Tuesday, which will remain in force at least until 2.59 p.m. this Wednesday, due to persistent rains with occasional thunderstorms caused by a low-pressure system.

So far, rainfall in Ibiza has reached 7.4 litres per square metre, with the heaviest downpours recorded during the early hours of Wednesday. In Formentera, accumulated rainfall stands at 6 litres per square metre, with the most intense rain falling on Tuesday afternoon.

For the rest of the day, Aemet forecasts little change in temperatures, with minimums of 11°C and maximums of 17°C, while winds will be light to moderate from the northeast.
