The mayor of Ibiza, Rafael Triguero, has raised his voice to urge the Spanish Government to immediately approve the declaration of the city as an ‘Area Seriously Affected by a Civil Protection Emergency’ — the current legal term replacing the former designation of disaster zone.
“We continue to demand urgency from the Spanish Government in declaring the emergency zone. Tomorrow marks one month since the first DANA, and the city of Ibiza cannot accept administrative delays. The City Council acted swiftly and requested it just three days after that DANA, but we are still waiting for a response”, Triguero lamented after the monthly meeting of the local security board held at Can Botino.
The mayor revealed that he speaks “almost daily with the Government’s delegate”, Alfonso Rodríguez, to convey “the need for Ibiza to return to normal after these floods” — but so far, without results.
