Partido Popular Ibiza argues “there are no grounds” for dismissing the chief of police in Sant Antoni

The court verdict exonerates Alcaraz of the crime of workplace harassment, of which she was accused by the chief of the Sant Antoni Local Police, Javier Verdugo

The Partido Popular (PP) of Sant Antoni reminds the public in a statement that the acquittal of the former councillor of Governance of Sant Antoni Aída Alcaraz “is not final and there is the possibility for an appeal”, so it will not yet comment on the matter. A sentence of the Criminal Court number 1 of Ibiza acquitted Alcaraz of the crime of workplace harassment of which she was accused by the head of the Policía Local of Sant Antoni, Javier Verdugo.

The Popular Party points out that “there are neither reasons nor causes to force the chief of the Policía Local resign at this time as requested by the PSOE“, which says Javier Verdugo has been accused “of wrongdoings that are not proven”.

The PP also points out that the previous legislature demanded the resignation of Aida Alcaraz “for a breach of the ethical code of her party, which requires resignation by any public official to whom oral proceedings are opened for a criminal investigation,” which she did not do: she remained in office until the end of the mandate. “As an opposition group we demanded that they comply with their own code of ethics for the opening of an oral trial, which was produced by indications of alleged harassment of a City Council worker who decided to defend rights that he understood were being violated,” adds the statement from the PP.
