Paradores de España is finalising its workforce ahead of the opening of the hotel complex in Dalt Vila, as confirmed to Diario de Ibiza by the Secretary of State for Tourism. The state-owned hotel chain has indicated that it is in the final phase of the staff selection process, confirming new hires and adjusting the final team to meet the operational needs for the opening.
In this regard, Diario de Ibiza reported in mid-May that Paradores was planning to launch new recruitment processes to fill the remaining vacancies from a public employment offer in which only 17 of the 41 positions advertised for the Parador de Dalt Vila were filled. The hotel has 66 rooms, and those 41 positions were initially planned to “cover the initial staff with which the Parador will open”, according to the same sources at the time. They maintained that the recruitment process was on schedule despite the “foreseen difficulties in Ibiza” and highlighted that the state hotel chain offers internal transfers for Paradores de España employees as well as the promotion of vacant positions.
Meanwhile, the Secretariat of Tourism explained on Tuesday that the City Council has informed them that work must now begin on the electrical connection for the water cistern, a task that is expected to take around four weeks. Once this work is completed and the corresponding tests have been carried out, “an approximate opening date can be given”.
The cistern itself has been a point of controversy. The public body Turespaña, which reports to the Ministry of Tourism, carried out the refurbishment works on the hotel complex prior to its transfer to Paradores, which is responsible for its tourist operation. Turespaña has also assumed the cost of repairing the water tank, which was built 20 years ago by the City Council on municipal land. In any case, the installation was designed to supply this hotel establishment.
