Mud rain returns: Dates and areas to be affected

If you had washed the car, bad news

Last week mud was falling from the sky as if there was no tomorrow. In areas like Ibiza, everything was covered with a dense red mantle that dirtied cars, terraces, sidewalks, walls of houses…

But if we thought that with the arrival of summer we would no longer have to suffer this meteorological filth, we were all wrong.

The combination of the precipitation associated with this new DANA and the calima, could leave another episode of mud showers in Spain.

The new DANA arriving in Spain

The own circulation of the DANA will favor a southerly flow over Spain that will bring calima from North Africa. Calima will advance over the eastern half of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands. On Thursday it will increase and could leave concentrations of dust in suspension higher in the islands and in points of the central peninsular. Throughout Friday the haze is expected to begin to retreat eastward.

Unlike many of the cold drops recorded in recent weeks, which entered through the extreme north of the Peninsula, this time the DANA is expected to break through the Gulf of Cadizwhich will favor the dragging of a new batch of calima from North Africa towards Spain. “The combination of the precipitation associated with this new DANA and the calima, could leave another episode of mud showers in Spain.”warned Marta Almarcha, an expert in Eltiempo.es.

Affected areas

As reported Almarcha, the rain of mud will come through rainfall “very distributed but irregular”. Thus, with the expansion of the haze along virtually the entire peninsula on Thursday, all areas where showers are recorded are likely to suffer the effects of mud rain. Communities such as Andalusia, Castilla-La Manchaincluding in Madrid o Castilla y León o Extremadura would fall into this group. Looking ahead to Friday, the greatest concentration will be at the Mediterraneanwhere, nevertheless, the probability of rainfall will be less.
