Ibiza’s hospitality to sector to stay open until 2 a.m.

Formentera lifts the ban on late-night encounters between people who do not live together

Ibiza bars and restaurants can now open until two in the morning, an hour more than in recent weeks, following the updated covid infection prevention measures approved yesterday by the Balearic Govern. In Formentera the restrictions have also been relaxed with the lifting of the ban on social gatherings between non-cohabiting people during the early hours of the morning, although this ban will continue to apply in Ibiza for an hour less than before, as announced by the Govern’s spokesperson, Iago Negueruela.

Under the new resolution of the Conselleria de Salud y Consumo del Govern Balear, which came into force at midnight last night, opening hours and restrictions in the hotel and catering sector and now the same throughout the Balearic Islands, whereas until yesterday Ibiza’s restrictions were stricter due to its poorer health situation.

In addition to being able to open for one hour longer at night, the maximum table occupancy in establishments on Ibiza is also now the same as on Formentera, Mallorca and Menorca. Thus, since last midnight, bars and restaurants can serve groups of eight people indoors and twelve on the terraces. Until yesterday, no more than four people could gather at the same table inside Ibiza’s bars and restaurants, while outside, only a maximum of eight diners could be seated together.
