The 6th Ibiza Light Festival will take place on Friday and Saturday this week with light installations, projections and performances in different heritage locations of Dalt Vila. The event was presented on Sunday by the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Montse Garcia, accompanied by the island director of Culture, Miquel Costa, and the organizers of Ibiza Light Festival, Ivan Dominguez and Pedro Comesaña. It foresees up to 16 light installations and performances in the streets by different companies, which will interact with the public.
“This year we can celebrate the festival normally, without capacity restrictions. I want to thank the perseverance, attitude and effort on the part of the organizers. From the City Council we want to continue supporting culture, participation and creators who, with their artistic projects, offer a cultural alternative to the citizens precisely in the month of October. Ibiza Light Festival is very important because we promote our city as a World Heritage Site and in this way we support light artists. This festival has already become one of the most important cultural events on the calendar for the city and is one of the most esteemed festivals,” said Garcia.
“We have the opportunity to enjoy a very important artistic and creative event such as the Ibiza Light festival. I think we have to value the effort and creativity of organizers and artists. It is one of the most important light festivals in Spain and I invite the public to visit,” said Costa.
On behalf of the organization, Pedro Comesaña said that this year they have decided that all the artists will be from Ibiza. “The island is a cosmopolitan place with many people of many nationalities who have decided to reside here and, given that the festival was born to create a community of digital and light artists, we thought that it is has now been created and that it was time to give this opportunity to artists residing on the island.”
Talks and exhibitions at Ibiza Light Festival
In addition to the street art, the organizers highlighted the launching of ‘Impulsivo’, a series of talks, shows and exhibitions that start on Friday, October 21st, and which they hope “in the future will become a cultural week prior to the celebration of the festival,” said Domínguez.
The talks and masterclasses by two artists photographers of the island, Vitorino and Mateo Salvatori, share a common theme, which is the use of light implemented within the photography itself. There will also be an exhibition of photographs by different artists. This branch of the festival will take place in the Hangar hall free of charge.
The installations planned for Ibiza Light Festival include a videomapping by the artist Necko; the installation by Pedro Comesaña, titled ‘Jardín Odissey’; ‘Mercaba’, by the artist Hypnotica; ‘Tree laser’, by Pirolaser Fx; a laser mapping by Chromatic Studio; live paintings by Vitorino; ‘Monolito’, by Ataraxia AVV; ‘Black Hole’, by Ataraxia AVV; ‘Horizonte sucesos’, by Pirolaser FX; ‘Hologram laser’, by Chromatic Studio; ‘Arcos Led’, by Ibiza Light Festival; ‘Focused’, by F.
