A videomapping by Necko of labyrinthine images and a corridor of sharp green lasers by Hypnotica welcomed attendees on Saturday night at the entrances through the MACE tunnel and the Portal de ses Taules of the 2022 Ibiza Light Festival, which this time is confined to the walled city of Dalt Vila.

Hundreds of people have attended one of the most awaited cultural and leisure events of the year, which once again filled the streets and squares with light, sound and images.

In total there are 16 installations that make up this year’s festival, in addition to the street performances of Eye Man, Firefly, Cry Wheel and Laser Girls who walk the streets of the historic center with impressive luminous costumes so that the public can be photographed with them and upload it to their networks with the hastag #ibizalightfestival.

Ibiza Light Festival: An incredible atmosphere

From the tunnel to the lookout of the City Council, the installations surprise visitors in the surroundings of the MACE, the climb through the Rastrillo with the glowing trees, and in the bastion of Santa Llúcia, with the spectacular monolith and the ‘black hole’ of Ataraxia with the cathedral above as a backdrop. from the viewpoint of the City Council await the geosphere and the LED arches mounted by Ibiza Light Festival, which invite you to pass through and and lose yourself, and in the Sala Capitular the colored lights in the background create an incredible atmosphere.

In between there are other installations that attract attention, such as the live work of Vitorino. And others that invite you to enter, such as Serafín Zurita’s installation in the church of Santo Domingo, tinged with a purple halo, or the hypnotic sounds of the gong under the mapped stars ‘Constellation’, in the cloister of the City Hall. All of this year’s installations have been created by artists residing on the island, which gives an idea of the large community of light creators that has grown in recent years.

These are just some examples of a festival that always invites enjoyment, contemplation, surprise and even reflection. But above all, capturing images with dozens of cell phones photographing and recording each piece in the realm of luminous selfies.
