The heavy rains that have fallen throughout the morning in Mallorca, mostly concentrated in on the palma airport, have caused several floods in Son Sant Joan. Specifically, terminal A, the Duty Free, the employee parking, part of the runways and the departures and check-in area have been affected. At least two flights from Ibiza to Palma have suffered delays, one was scheduled to depart at 15.20 hours and has been delayed until 17.34 hours and another should have left at 15.45 and, finally, has done so at 16.30 hours. In addition, the flight that was to leave for the Balearic capital at 5.55 p.m. has been cancelled.
According to data from the AEMET, in just one hour 43.8 liters per square meter have fallen on the airport. This strong discharge occurred over the 12.40 hours. This is one of the areas of the island where rainfall has been most concentrated.
In several videos released by airport workers and passengers, it is observedn strong water cascades falling over the entrance doors to access the security checkpoint and check-in counters. The image is repeated in the Duty Free, completely deserted and flooded.

Diversions and delays
ENAIRE, the air navigation manager in Spain, has informed through its networks that there could be diversions and delays due to rainfall.
“Heavy storm in the airport area of Palma de Mallorca” is greatly complicating operations and is forcing limitations on landings and takeoffs for safety reasons. Diversions and delays may occur,” they reported.
