The Consell de Govern yesterday approved a decree law of urgent measures that will allow the councils of Ibiza and Menorca to compensate licenced companies that provide regular public transport services for passengers by road for the effects of the covid pandemic.
The decree law came into force on February 1st. As from this date, the licenced companies must submit a request for economic compensation for the 2021 fiscal year within one month.
This regulation recognizes the specific restrictions that were applied to land transport, for which the Government considers it necessary to empower the Councils of Ibiza and Menorca to “establish a procedure so that the concessionaires can request economic compensation for their contracts”.
The Government refers to the “deficit” that these companies have suffered and justifies that “the administrations take on economic rebalancing by means of an extraordinary economic compensation for the concession contracts of regular public transport services of general use”.
