Balearic Islands, leading destination in July for fourth consecutive month

The Balearic Islands was the main destination for international tourists in July, attracting 30% (1.3 million) of the total 4.4 million visitors who came to Spain. As the Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Labour, Iago Negueruela, stressed, this is the fourth consecutive month in which the archipelago maintains its leadership. Since January it has accumulated 2.6 million foreign travellers.

Negueruela, who evaluated the data of the National Statistics Institute (INE) for July, stressed that adding the national travelers, the islands reached 1.86 million tourists, as the domestic market brought 544,552 people, 22.6% more than before the pandemic, as thanks to the crisis the Spanish are choosing to spend their holidays in Spain. The two main countries sending visitors to the Balearic Islands in July were Germany (with 385,352 visitors) and the United Kingdom (294,323).

The archipelago is followed by Catalonia, with more than 814,310 foreign tourists and the Comunitat Valencia, with 607,214 visitors.
