The agreement between the Balearic Government and the Consell de Ibiza to distribute regional aid to those affected by the recent floods is about to be finalised by the Department of Intervention “to be signed as soon as possible”. The final guidelines are expected to be approved “this week or next”, island president Vicent Marí said on Monday. This extraordinary fund, totalling five million euros, is intended for both individuals and businesses that suffered material damage due to storms Ex-Gabrielle and Alice.
Marí stressed that the conditions governing the distribution of compensation have already been agreed with the Petita i Mitjana Empresa (Pimeef), the Ibiza and Formentera Chamber of Commerce, and the island’s municipalities. Therefore, once the agreement is ratified with the Ministry of the Interior, “we are ready to approve the guidelines so that the aid can reach all those affected before Christmas”, the president said.
Conditions
With this five-million-euro fund — already approved on 7 November by the Consell de Govern — non-refundable aid will be granted up to 2,500 euros for individuals and up to 10,000 euros for businesses that have had to deal with damage caused by the recent floods. These subsidies may not exceed “in any case” the total cost of the damage, as they are intended solely to cover “that part not covered by insurance companies”, Marí explained.
