Ibiza Town is hosting two theatrical heritage tours of Dalt Vila on Saturday 17 October, followed by a dramatised reading at Es Polvorí on Sunday 18 October, as part of the town’s heritage programme.

Ibiza Town Council is expanding its cultural programme dedicated to the island’s historic heritage this weekend, with two theatrical tours on Saturday 17 October and a dramatised reading on Sunday 18 October. The events form part of the Pla de Dinamització del Patrimoni, the municipality’s heritage promotion initiative.

The Saturday tours will start at 10am and noon, departing from the Portal de ses Taules, the historic gateway to Dalt Vila. No advance booking is required. The initiative aims to bring the city’s history and heritage closer to the public through an engaging combination of storytelling, performance and historical interpretation.

The programme continues on Sunday at 12pm at Es Polvorí, with a dramatised reading of ‘Joan Xico. La nit oberta’, directed by Ramon Mayol and performed by Produccions Aïllades.

The events are part of a wider municipal plan built around five main strands: theatrical heritage tours, historical walking routes, dramatised readings, street theatre and music in distinctive venues.

More theatrical tours and heritage walks this autumn

The theatrical tours will continue over the coming months, with further sessions scheduled for 21 November in Spanish and 19 December in Catalan. Both dates will feature two tours, starting at 10am and noon.

The programme also includes a series of heritage walks through Ibiza Town’s historic centre. The next route, ‘Els orígens de Dalt Vila’ (The Origins of Dalt Vila), will take place on 25 October, departing at 10.30am from the Museu d’Art Contemporani d’Eivissa (MACE) and ending at the Baluard de Sant Pere.

In November, the programme will feature ‘Els edificis emblemàtics’ (Landmark Buildings) on 7 and 22 November. On 5 December, the route ‘Eivissa Patrimoni Mundial’ (Ibiza World Heritage) will explore the sites recognised by UNESCO and their connections with other elements of the island’s heritage.

Street theatre and live music in historic Ibiza

Another part of the initiative focuses on street theatre. ‘Quatre estampes eivissenques’, by Bernat Joan, brings spontaneous theatrical scenes to different locations within the city’s historic walled enclosure.

In recent months, the council has also expanded its music programme in historic venues across Ibiza Town. The events have included Nits al Baluard, Lluna d’Estiu, a candlelit concert at the Baluard de Santa Llúcia, Ibiza Concerts and the Eivissa Jazz festival.

Together, these initiatives aim to make Ibiza’s historic setting an active part of its cultural life, offering residents and visitors opportunities to discover the city’s heritage through theatre, guided walks and live music.
