Ibiza promoted at FITUR as an urban, cultural and year-round destination

The Mayor of Ibiza, Rafael Triguero, and the City Councillor for Tourism, Rubén Sousa, held a meeting on Wednesday with representatives of the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV) as part of the International Tourism Fair, FITUR.

The meeting was attended by CEAV president Carlos Garrido, first vice-president José Manuel Lastra and the organisation’s managing director, Mercedes Tejero, who shared with the mayor and the tourism councillor the sector’s main conclusions regarding the evolution of tourism demand.

During the meeting, the president of CEAV highlighted the growing interest in Ibiza during the low season, driven mainly by its heritage, cultural and urban appeal. As he noted, this confirms that the promotional campaigns under the slogan “Ibiza open all year round” are delivering positive results among travel agencies and source markets.

CEAV representatives also shared general data on national tourism trends, pointing out that Andalusia and Barcelona are currently the most popular destinations, followed by the Canary Islands, Madrid and the Valencian Community, within a context of recovery and stabilisation of the tourism sector looking ahead to 2026.

For its part, the City Council stated that it “highly values” the support of the travel agency sector and reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to promote “a diversified, sustainable and deseasonalised tourism model” that highlights the city’s historical and cultural heritage.

The meeting forms part of the institutional agenda of the City Council of Ibiza at FITUR, aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in Spain’s tourism industry.
