The Infosalut Connecta telephone service — designed to manage medical appointments and provide health information for extended hours (Monday to Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays and holidays, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.) — has not been answering citizens’ calls for at least a week. Complaints from users, who report having spent “days” trying to reach the number 971 22 00 00 without success, continue to grow, as this failure is forcing many to travel to their respective health centres due to the impossibility of obtaining, for example, a medical appointment.
Sources from the Balearic Islands Health Service (IB-Salut), which oversees this telephone line, have acknowledged the issue and attributed it to a combination of factors that has severely reduced the number of available staff. According to the official explanation, in recent weeks “several absences have coincided”, resulting in a significant drop in the number of professionals on duty.
Among these absences are several periods of temporary disability leave for health reasons, as well as long-term leaves, including maternity leave or scheduled leave related to weddings. This accumulation of absences has had a direct and immediate impact on the service’s capacity to answer calls. Although the team consists of more than 70 professionals, the concentration of leaves has effectively brought the service to a halt in recent days.
