This Saturday, September 28, the island of Ibiza will be the venue for the fifth stage of the t100 Triathlon World Tour. This is the new name of the PTO Tour and it is a world circuit of seven T100 races that are being contested throughout the 2024 season and consist of 100 km (2 km swim, 80 km bike and 18 km run). The world’s best triathletes have already faced each other in Miami, Singapore, San Francisco and London and after Ibiza, the battle will continue in Las Vegas (October 19-20) and in the final of the T100 Championship in Dubai (November 16-17). All the races can be followed live all over the world (more than 195 territories) being Eurosport and TV3 the ones that will offer for Spain the Ibiza show.
There are seven T100 events throughout the season, with the Ibiza T100 being the fifth leg of the circuit. (A total of $250,000 in prize money is awarded in each series.) Triathletes score differently depending on their results and the top three scores, plus the Dubai T100 Final, are the ones that ultimately count towards the final women’s and men’s T100 World Championship standings.
The champions will pocket $210,000. Thus, between the triathletes’ contracts, the prize purse for each T100 race and the T100 Triathlon World Tour pool, the T100 Triathlon World Tour provides more than $7 million in prize money.
Sara Pérez Sala, Susana Rodríguez’s guide at the JJPP (winning the gold medal), Javi Gómez Noya, who will relive his historic duel with Alistair Bronwlee and Antonio Benito (World Long Distance champion), will be the Spanish representatives of a dream Starlist with names Sam Laidlow, India Lee Lucy Charles-Barclay. The women’s race will start at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, while the men’s race will start earlier, at 08:00 a.m., both from Playa Ses Figueretes.
Ibiza will be the penultimate great FETRI race of the season, before the final climax, which will take place in Torremolinos, from 17 to 20 October, with the Final of the World Series.
