Walking route: Magnificent Sant Josep and Es Vedrà

A beautiful forest walk with amazing views on a clear day passing through Sant Josep to reach Cala d'Hort

The amazing Ibizan forests are the stars of this recommended route. Starting in the Can Bellotera neighborhood next to the Club de Campo, at approximately kilometer 1.5 on the road from Ibiza to Sant Josep, the objective is to reach Cala d’Hort, after crossing two important wooded areas known as the serra de ses Fontanelles and sa Talaia, and the village of Sant Josep.

The magnificent views found along the route allow us to admire Formentera and the coasts of the Peninsula on a cloud free day from sa Talaia and the magical islet of Vedrà, whose mystical halo emerges at sunset. Most of the route runs along forest paths.

Crossing through Sant Josep

Along the serra de ses Fontanelles, heading west, you reach Sant Josep; crossing the village, in the direction of es Cubells you will find several signs on the right to reach sa Talaia. Each of them leads to the path that takes you to its 475m peak, the highest of the island. Nearby there is an area filled with television and telephone antennas from where you have to find a forest road that leads to ses Roques Altes, a beautiful lookout over the area of cala d’Hort and es Vedrà. Approximately halfway to ses Roques Altes, a signpost indicates the path that leads to Cala d’Hort. At the end of this path, crossing the road, you will reach the beach through some rustic tracks.

There is also the option of a more leisurely pace to the route. First you can take the route to Sant Josep and return by bus. The second section would be from the village to Cala d’Hort, from where you can only walk back or take a taxi.
