Ana Juan, the head of the Consell Insular de Formentera, revealed this morning at a news conference that the island has been placed on level 3 health alert for covid as a result of the Consell de Govern’s decision. This means that the covid certificate will be required to enter the interiors of pubs and restaurants of any size, but it will not be required to enter outdoor terraces with more than two closed sides; if they have more, they will be deemed interiors.
This regulatory reform requires the few establishments that remain open in Formentera at this moment, all of which have a capacity of less than 50 people, to apply the control of the covid certificate through the appropriate application to all clients accessing the establishment’s interior area. For entry to senior clubs, sports, and cultural institutions, the certificate must also be displayed.
Formentera has no extracurricular activities
The Consell de Formentera’s president, Ana Juan, has stated that, in addition to the measures that correspond to the level 3 health alert and are applicable throughout the autonomous community, the Consell de Formentera has decided “to suspend extracurricular activities in municipal schools for children under 12 years old until January 17,” after which the health situation will be assessed to determine whether or not the measure should be extended.
The celebration of the Consell d’Entitats assembly, set for next Wednesday at 8 p.m., will take place at the same time, but via teleconference.
The Consell has decided to postpone the Show of Children’s Shows scheduled for the next few days till a new date as part of the package of actions.
In her speech, the president highlighted that as of last Sunday, Formentera had an accumulated incidence of 1,268 cases per 100.000 people to 14 days, “with the heightened strain of care that represents,” he said.
The number of patients infected that day was 249, with four of them being treated in various hospitals: Can Misses and Son Espases, and the remainder being treated in their homes by Primary Care of Formentera.
“I request dedication and responsibility from all Formentera people.”
However, according to the most recent data from the Health Area of Ibiza and Formentera, Formentera now has 278 people infected, with six hospitalized, according to the newest data from the Health Area of Ibiza and Formentera. Two of these patients are women aged 65 and 63, as well as a 56-year-old man in Can Misses’ ICU and a 55-year-old man in Son Espases’ ICU. A 57-year-old woman and a 64-year-old French tourist are in the ward of Can Misses’ Internal Medicine unit.
