UD Ibiza yesterday recoreded a goalless draw at El Alcoraz against the powerful SD Huesca that allows them to return with a clean slate after their defeat against Almeria, maintaining their excellent performance away from Can Misses and consolidate their place in the top 10 in the second division.
UD Ibiza, who made four changes with respect to last Sunday, kept the score card clean in a game with plenty of dangerous changes. The celestes went from strength to strength against a Huesca side in need, that were also unsuccessful in front of Germán’s goal. A fair share of points and the eighth draw in the League for the Celestes.
The power struggle for territory dominance and the ball lasted the first quarter of an hour, during which no significant opportunities were recorded. The Huesca side, in need of some joy at home, tried to take the initiative by attacking down the left flank, and the high pressure made it difficult for the Ibizan side to get organised.
A counter-attack by Herrera that died with poor control by Bogusz stopped the momentum of the locals, who were also unable to penetrate the lines of a compact and disciplined Ibiza in their 4-4-2. The Celestes created a new chance at 17 minutes, when Javi Perez won the back line and served a killer pass that Guerrero, surrounded by rivals, was unable to connect with.
Huesca responded with a double cross from the right wing. The second, a free kick expertly taken by Marc Mateu, was closing until it hit the crossbar after beating German overhead (min. 21). A bad start that could have cost the islanders dearly.
The Ibizan side were very dangerous in their sporadic offensive transitions, and Herrera was again the protagonist in one of them. After winning the back of the defence and racing at speed past goalkeeper Andres Fernandez, he ended up wide and lost his chance to score.
The Sergio Castel’s replacement, showing great mobility, once again beat his markers and to set up Guerrero, who failed to finishe, with everything in his favor, in one of the clearest moves of the first half.
