Paco Jémez’s UD Ibiza is back in action, this time with Fuenlabrada in mind

UD Ibiza starts training under the direction of the new coach, who signed a contract on the island with Amadeo Salvo yesterday, to face his first 'final' for the permanence against a direct competitor next Sunday

Paco Jémez has already arrived on the island and will oversee his first training session as the head of UD Ibiza today. The 51-year-old Cordoba-raised coach arrived in Ibiza yesterday to sign the contract that would keep him at the club until the end of the season, capping off an arduous week of talks following the dismissal of Juan Carlos Carcedo last Saturday.

The ex-Rayo Vallecano, among other teams, returns to the bench after a fruitless season, hoping to improve the records of the Riojan with the celestial template, which finished the first round in sixteenth place with 25 points, five above the relegation areas and six of the play-off positions.

The Canarian coach was overjoyed upon his arrival on the island and is determined to compete for everything in the club presided over by Amadeo Salvo. Illusion, motivation, and a desire to work are some of the concepts that the media coach brings with him, who was met upon his arrival by UD Ibiza’s sporting director, Fernando Soriano.

Throughout this week, Jémez will try to lay the groundwork for his project and communicate his tactical concepts to the Celeste squad, in preparation for the first ‘final’ for the permanence in LaLiga SmartBank next Sunday in Fuenlabrada (21:00), coinciding with the first match of the year and the second round of the championship.

The group is set to go through the necessary covid tests today before meeting their new coach and returning to work at Can Misses. The celestes return to the green extremely cautious of the eight positive cases announced by the club at the start of last week, and on high alert to avoid fresh infections that could jeopardize their appearance in Madrid lands.

Arrival in Ibiza and the contract with UD Ibiza

Paco Jémez landed on the island shortly after midday, laden with baggage.

The new coach arrived shortly after 1pm, filled with suitcases in Eivissa, where the club’s sporting director, Fernando Soriano, awaited him. The coach has signed a contract till the end of the season, and his first practice is today.

Paco Jémez walked through the Can Misses press room to finalize a contract extension with Amadeo Salvo until the end of the current season. Today he will have his first training session with the Celeste squad, and at 12 p.m. he will do an official presentation to the media.
