Ibizan badminton is assured a promising future that holds the prospect of continuing to enjoy new and great successes. This was confirmed this weekend in Santa Eulària, during the Spanish Championship under-13 badminton category, a sporting event hosted by the national headquarters Villa del Rio, with the participation of the best and most promising players from all regions of Spain amongst the almost 180 entries in the five events to settle the individual male and female titles, male and female doubles, and mixed.
The Ibizan representation, as usual in recent years, shone brightly once again and triumphed in this Spanish Championship, in which the players from Ibiza won a gold medal, two silver medals and two fifth places.
The Ibizan Silvia Riera, president of the Balearic Federation of badminton, cites “the good work” that has been carried out over many years “with the base” of the Ibizan junior squad the “formula” for achieving these good results and expressed her satisfaction with the achievements in the national U-13 event, where Ibiza once again made it’s mark.
“The truth is that we have obtained good results and we are all very happy. But this is not a coincidence,” said the president of the Balearic badminton, before adding: “This shows the great work we have done, which is a labor of many years to achieve this. Our goal is not that there is a result in a particular category or a specific player, but what we want is that the results and successes come from below, with players from here from U-11 to U-19.
