Users of the online booking application TheFork have chosen a restaurant on Ibiza as their favorite in the Balearic Islands in the TOP100 2022 ranking in Spain. It is the top positioned Balearic restaurant nationally in the ranking, based on the opinions, reservations and visits from users of the app.

The chosen restaurant in this ranking was Etxeko by Martín Berasategui, with one Michelin star, in 37th place. “Located in the Bless Hotel Ibiza, it is a melting pot of creativity and haute cuisine where, in addition to the exceptional quality of the product, passion, joy and enthusiasm are prevailing values. In charge of its stoves is the prestigious chef Martín Berasategui, who holds a total of twelve Michelin stars, and who has concentrated the flavors of the old city of San Sebastián, La Bretxa market and of his childhood in a purely hedonistic gastronomic proposal”, highlights TheFork in a statement. The executive chef of the Ibizan restaurant is Paco Budia.

The Balearic Islands host six establishments with great references such as Etxeko by Martin Berasategui (37) on Ibiza, Es Fum (58) and DINS Santi Taura (60) in Mallorca.

Casa Marcial

At the national level, the Asturian restaurant Casa Marcial leads the ranking, from chefs Esther and Nacho Manzano, which has two Michelin stars and 3 Repsol suns. “Casa Marcial has become a benchmark for Asturian gastronomy and one of the most prestigious restaurants at the national level, staying true to its roots with a renewed traditional cuisine”, TheFork highlights.

“Their premise is to delve into the gastronomic legacy, roots, seasonality and integrity of the product to evolve and develop a type of gastronomy that reinvents itself every year to satisfy the palates of its most loyal customers,” says a note on the online booking platform, the Manzano brothers’ work philosophy, based on the values instilled by their parents, such as hospitality, service, respect for nature and the satisfaction of converting customers into friends, has elevated them to the top of Spanish gastronomy”.

In the words of chef Nacho Manzano, “this recognition has special meaning for us because it is based on the opinions of our diners, who are the most important thing for us,” TheFork reports.

Practically the whole of Spain is represented in this ranking, although Catalonia is particularly prominent as it has managed to bring together 29 restaurants, of which 3 are among the top 10 and 19 are located in the province of Barcelona. How is the TOP100 of TheFork compiled?

To compile this list, TheFork takes into account different criteria such as the scores obtained by its network of restaurants during 2022, the opinions, the visits to the restaurant’s file and the reservations generated in the restaurant. In addition, those selected in the TOP100 are also part of TheFork’s INSIDER selection, which brings together the best restaurants of the moment, in addition to those awarded by the Michelin Guide and Repsol in Spain.

“We are very excited to be able to recognize the great work and the quality of Spanish gastronomy. Thanks to this list, which we compile every year through reservations, experiences and diners’ ratings, we can reward these restaurants that dedicate themselves every day to offering the best products and services to satisfy the most demanding palates and that have become Spanish favorites,” says Raquel Bravo, Regional Marketing Director Iberia.

TheFork is a Tripadvisor company” leader in online restaurant reservations in Europe and Australia, thanks to its network of almost 60,000 associated restaurants in 12 countries”, according to the company. Through TheFork (web and app), as well as through Tripadvisor, users can select a restaurant according to their preferences, consulting the opinions of other users, checking availability in real time and booking instantly.
