At the 16th edition of the Climent Picornell Memorial of photography, Ibizan photographers received seven awards, highlighting the region’s rich natural beauty through their lenses. Oliver Martínez and Xavier Mas stood out, each securing two first prizes; Martínez for a captivating image of a kingfisher and Mas for his portrayal of a ‘moixó’ ensnared by a jellyfish titled ‘Deadly Embrace’. Mas further distinguished himself with three additional awards as first runner-up, showcasing a diverse range of subjects from the underwater world to the landscapes shrouded in fog, including a detailed shot of a Sphodromantis viridis mantis adorned with dew. Rafa Domínguez and Rosa Mollá also contributed to the accolades, earning recognition in the environmental awareness and other fauna categories, respectively. This event not only celebrates the exceptional talent of local photographers but also underscores the importance of nature and environmental conservation.
