46 paintings bring realism to Club Diario de Ibiza
Artists Cristina Ferrer and Antonio Villasante officially opened their joint exhibition at Club Diario de Ibiza on Tuesday, September 8, at 7 p.m. The opening attracted several dozen visitors, who gathered to view a collection featuring 21 realistic paintings by Villasante and 25 works by Ferrer.
The exhibition offers an opportunity to see both artists side by side, highlighting their individual approaches while revealing a common interest in realistic painting and traditional techniques.
Villasante’s final exhibition in Ibiza
The exhibition is particularly significant for Antonio Villasante, as it will be his last exhibition in Ibiza for the time being. The artist is preparing other projects on the Spanish mainland.
Speaking to this newspaper before the opening, Ferrer recalled a conversation with Villasante in which he told her: “If we didn’t exhibit together this time, it was never going to happen.”
The joint show therefore represents a long-awaited opportunity for the two artists to present their work together in Ibiza.
Oil on canvas: a demanding technique
Both artists frequently work with oil on canvas, a medium they regard as technically challenging.
Ferrer explains that oil painting is one of the most difficult techniques, despite the wide range of artistic methods available. Achieving precisely the desired tonalities with oil can be particularly demanding, she notes.
Villasante shares her assessment of the medium, agreeing that mastering colour and tonal nuances in oil painting requires considerable skill and precision.
The exhibition brings together their respective interpretations of realism while placing the oil painting technique at the heart of their artistic work.
