Spanish prosecutors are seeking a four-and-a-half-year prison sentence for a British woman accused of drug trafficking after allegedly being found with several illegal substances in the car park of a nightclub in Ibiza.

The trial is scheduled to take place on Thursday, starting at 9.45am, before Section Two of the Balearic Islands Provincial Court.

Woman allegedly found with MDMA, ketamine and cocaine

The case dates back to 2.20am on 16 October 2022, when the defendant was arrested in a nightclub car park in Ibiza, according to the prosecution’s indictment.

Prosecutors allege that she was carrying several drugs with the intention of distributing them to other people.

The substances reportedly seized were:

  • 18 MDMA pills
  • 0.5 grams of MDMA powder
  • 3.4 grams of ketamine
  • 2.7 grams of cocaine

The prosecution estimates that the drugs had a combined value of €776 on the illicit market.

Prosecutors seek prison sentence and €2,000 fine

The prosecution considers the alleged conduct to constitute a public health offence involving drug trafficking in substances deemed to cause serious harm to health under Spanish law. It holds the defendant responsible as the alleged perpetrator of the offence.

The prosecution does not identify any circumstances that would modify her criminal liability.

In addition to the requested prison sentence, prosecutors are seeking a €2,000 fine.

Deportation from Spain also requested

As the defendant is a foreign national, the prosecution is also asking the court to order her deportation from Spain after she has served two-thirds of any prison sentence ultimately imposed.

Under the request, the remainder of the sentence would be replaced by expulsion from Spanish territory, accompanied by a seven-year ban on returning to Spain.

The final outcome will depend on the court’s ruling.
