Zara owner’s nephew’s yacht sails repeatedly between Ibiza and Formentera

The megayacht Tumberry C is these days between Ibiza and Formentera. And what is it known for? Because of its owner: Juan Carlos Rodríguez Cebrián, nephew of Amancio Ortega, the founder of Inditex whose current net worth is around 115,000 million euros.

It is about one of the most luxurious yachts in Spain. It was first called Núfer and belonged to the Vigo businessman Fernando Fernández Tapias, and well-known faces such as Isabel Preysler, Lydia Lozano, Makoke or the Aznar family have sailed on it. The Vigo businessman sold it to Juan Carlos Rodríguez Cebrián, married to Amancio Ortega’s niece, Dolores Ortega, who between 2000 and 2005 was CEO of the well-known textile group after almost three decades in the company.

He currently manages its real estate investments and has assets in the hospitality sector, including the Marlolan and Inversiones Saona holdings. In 2023, Marlolan recorded net assets of €175 million and assets worth €177 million, with a net profit of €5.6 million in that year. Through Inversiones Saona, Cebrián channels its investments in restaurants and nightlife; in 2023 this company increased its assets to 661,000 euros, with net worth of more than half a million euros and a profit of 226,000 euros.

The Tumberry C has undergone repairs after running aground in the port Juan Carlos I (Sanxenxo) in 2023. The vessel was built in 1988, it is close to the 49 meters in length and is valued at seven million euros. Her exterior design is by Stefano Natucci, while Terence Disdale and Longari are responsible for the yacht’s interior. She can accommodate up to 10 guests in a total of five staterooms and seven crew.
