The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts a change in the weather in the Pitiusas from this Thursday. At the end of this week the first rains of October could arrive. Specifically, meteorologists point to a 65% probability of rainfall in Ibiza and Formentera that day and 100% for Friday.
As for temperatures, a decrease will also be noticed, although from the weekend onwards. The forecast of the Aemet is that on Saturday the maximums will not exceed 23 degrees and the minimum will be 14 degrees. These temperatures are here to stay. As they have announced in their networks, it seems that autumn is coming.
An “unpleasant environment” with heavy rains and intense winds caused by the arrival of several Atlantic squalls to the Peninsula will mark this week and next week, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), which expects that the area most affected by rainfall will be the western half.
The spokesman for the AEMET, Rubén del Campo, explained that the change of weather that began after the day of Pilar continues, as a result of the arrival of a mass of air from the Atlantic cooler and wetter, although it will still keep temperatures above normal during the first half of this week.
In more detail, this Monday there will be showers in the northeast peninsular and Balearic Islandswhich may be locally strong in areas of the Catalan coast and the archipelago. Showers are also expected in points of the northwest peninsular, as in Galicia, the west of Castilla y León and environments of the Cantabrian mountain range and the central system.
With regard to temperatures, these will fall in almost all of Spain with the exception of the Mediterranean coast where they will clearly rise, according to del Campo. Thus, the values will range between 18ºC to 24ºC of maximum in the two plateaus, while in the Cantabrian, the Peninsular Eastern Third and the Balearic Islands will exceed 25ºC. The decrease of the thermometers will be noticed during the weekend.
