Officers from the UDEV investigation unit of the National Police in Ibiza have arrested four men for their alleged involvement in a mass brawl that took place in the early hours of 14 December in a well-known nightlife area of the city.
As a result of the fight, several people suffered injuries of varying severity. These ranged from minor bruising and dental fractures to wounds requiring numerous stitches. The most seriously injured victim was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with multiple head injuries. According to police sources, however, all those injured are now out of danger.
The investigation began just a few hours after the incident, following the receipt of intervention reports from uniformed patrols of both the National Police and the Local Police, as well as the first complaints filed by those affected. Investigators also obtained a video recorded by a witness, along with footage from security cameras at several establishments near the scene of the assault.
According to initial findings, the brawl began outside the entrance of a well-known pub when a group of friends—apparently under the influence of alcohol—were denied entry to the venue. At that point, a fight broke out that lasted several minutes and involved the use of blunt objects, including a metal bar.
After taking numerous statements from witnesses and those involved, officers were able to identify the alleged perpetrators and proceeded to arrest four men, all of legal age and of Spanish, Chilean, Dominican and Romanian nationality, respectively. The suspects are facing charges of three counts of causing serious injury and one count of attempted homicide.
