Why the tow truck can now take your car away in Ibiza Town

The Ibiza Town Hall will bring to the plenary session this Thursday a modification of the Municipal Traffic Ordinance —a regulatory update that aims to “organise public space, improve mobility and strengthen road safety” in the municipality. The proposal, presented by the Councillor for Mobility and Public Transport, Ruben Sousa, introduces three main changes, as reported by the Council in a statement.

Parking of motorcycles and mopeds

The first measure adds a new paragraph to Article 31 stating that motorcycles and mopeds must be parked only in designated and properly marked areas. Parking these vehicles in any other space not expressly intended for this purpose will be prohibited.

Removal of vehicles in Ibiza Town

The second change, affecting Article 57(g), will allow vehicles that remain in the same spot on a public road for more than 72 hours to be removed and taken to the municipal impound lot. The aim is to promote turnover of available parking spaces and prevent the accumulation of abandoned or long-stay vehicles.

Incorrect parking of two-wheelers

The third amendment adds a new section to Article 58, considering the incorrect parking of motorcycles and mopeds outside designated areas as an infraction, subject to the penalties provided for in current regulations.
