The luxury hotel The Standard Ibiza will open in April on the site of the former Cines Serra (Serra Cinema) in Ibiza’s Paseo de Vara de Rey. The hotel firm that will operate it and give the new establishment its name, The Standard, has stated this to Diario de Ibiza.
Amber Asher, the company’s managing director, explains in an email from the company’s London headquarters: “The Standard has always felt a strong connection to Ibiza, a shared appreciation for the unrestrained fun, the freedom to be who you are, and the expectation of the unexpected, so this is an exciting day for us because we are one step closer to welcoming the first guests.”
This property is still owned by KKH Property Investors through a joint venture that manages its investments as well as those of foreign real estate investment funds advised by Aermont Capital LLP.
The Standard Ibiza: delays in construction
The construction of the new hotel began in early 2017 and has been delayed multiple times owing to covid and the bankruptcy of the original construction company. It has also changed the operator, which was previously intended to be the Ibizan OD Hotels.
“The hotel was developed by Spanish creator Lázaro Rosa-Violán, with interiors designed by Oskar Kohnen in partnership with The Standard’s in-house design team,” the company says.
“The design,” they say, “celebrates the return of the enthusiasm that first drew so many to Ibiza, as well as the rebirth of flower power with an elegant 1960s ambience.”
Standard International promises that the hotel will be “a year-round playground for adults” and emphasizes the property’s privileged location in the city. Just a few meters away is the Gran Hotel Montesol, also an emblematic five-star venue.
In the middle of summer The Standard Ibiza prices start at 550 euros
The hotel is already accepting reservations for the month of April beginning at 255€, a launch deal because the price in peak season, beginning in July, will not be less than 550€, they stress.
They also offer information in the note regarding an apartment building built a few meters away from the hotel on Bartomeu Vicente Ramón street, which has a parking lot with a capacity of 43 vehicles.
This ‘extension’ has been called Casa Privada and will “be available for parties of friends.” “It will have the solitude of a villa, with its own private pool, bar, gym, lounge, and 14 rooms,” they say. According to the hotel operator, it will be “a one-of-a-kind retreat in Ibiza.”
The five-star hotel will also have two restaurants, one on the corner of Vara de Rey and the other on the rooftop, “with a 15-meter pool and panoramic views of the island,” according to the report.
