A German-flagged motorboat suffered an engine failure on Tuesday while was anchored in the area of S’Espalmador, in Formentera. According to Salvamento Marítimo, the vessel began to emit a dense column of black smoke from the engine room, which generated the alert among other nearby vessels.
“Several semi-rigid vessels quickly approached the place to assist the crew members,” explained Salvamento. From the Rescue Coordination Center (CCS) of Palma has been mobilized to the rescue vessel ‘Salvamar Naos’ready to intervene in case of emergency.
Fortunately, the malfunction has been fixed by the crew themselves before a more dangerous situation arose. In the end, the engine was out of danger.
