These are some of the measures adopted by the City Council of Sant Antoni to protect the work of street art for which it has paid 371,000 euros.
This has been communicated to those affected in two informative meetings held in the last few weeks the mayor, Marcos Serra, together with the councilors responsible for different areas. “The regulations involved affect different areas related to cleanliness, maintenance, circulation, access or coexistence and are focused on respecting the painting that will be extended along the pavement of this pedestrian way,” the City Council has communicated in a note.

The first meeting was held with the establishments in Santa Agnès street affected by Okuda’s artistic intervention, and the second with the transporters, distributors and deliverers who offer their services in this area.
Regarding the mobility measures, as mentioned above, the City Council is reinforcing the prohibition of driving on the construction site with any vehicleand the closure of the access to vehicular traffic, as stated in the municipal ordinances. The City Council will increase these restrictions by also prohibiting the passage of bicycles, scooters or any type of wheeled vehicle. In addition, it will be established as mandatory that wheelbarrows and pallet trucks used in this area have rubber tires.
“In order to facilitate distribution and distribution, the following will be enabled new loading and unloading spaces around the area,” emphasizes the Consistory.
Okuda blows up the West End
Regarding the occupation of the public road, the City Council will force the furniture of the terraces and the containers of the premises must have rubber feet and wheelsthe cleaning should be carried out using only ph-neutral cleaning products, hand brushes and mops. “In addition, compliance with existing regulations will be intensified with regard to the prohibition of throwing chewing gum on the ground and abandoning bags of waste on the public highway,” adds the City Council.
No graffiti or graffiti
As far as works and repairs are concerned, the City Council has reminded “that must apply for permission for any action that requires lifting the groundthe pavement must be protected when painting the facades and it is forbidden to alter Okuda’s work with any kind of graffiti, graffiti, inscriptions or graphics”.
For the implementation of these measures, “existing municipal ordinances will be applied and violations will be punished with the corresponding fines. In these cases, it has also been recalled that the Penal Code is applicable, which establishes that anyone who causes damage to property of historical, artistic, scientific, cultural or monumental value will be punished”.
The City Council has also held coordination meetings with the municipal cleaning service UTE Portmany to adapt the cleaning and waste removal system to the current situation of the area, promoting the manual door-to-door collection system and adjusting in turn, the pressures and cleaning products to the needs of the work. In this regard, an information campaign is once again being carried out in all the establishments with environmental educators and technical personnel.
The City Council requests “the maximum collaboration of all the premises and workers in this area, as well as of the citizenship, for the compliance of all these measures, which have the purpose of protecting this outdoor work”.
